Jennie has always loved dancing since she was a little girl. She used to watch dance shows on TV and was obsessed with dance video clips on music channels. She started her very first dance act when she was 14 with her high school and performed for a school event.
Jennie started Latin dance in 2011 where she began with Reggaeton. Ever since then, she fell in love with Latin and Brazilian music and rhythms. From here, Jennie immersed herself in other dance styles such as Salsa, Bachata, Burlesque, Axe and Brazilian Samba.
For Jennie, it was never a decision to dance and become a Brazilian Samba dancer, "Brazilian Samba is my passion and something I want to share with everyone. Each samba dance style has its own flavour, rhythm, and moves. It allows me to create my own body movements and styling. Each week I train hard to develop my own style of samba. I never feel tired when I dancing it. It always puts a smile on my face, makes me feel happy, alive and gives me great energy. I can’t help but dance when I hear samba music and live batucada drum" she says.
Jennie joined Subsdance Dance Studio in 2012 and one year later, became a Glamourosa. Since then, she's performed with the team in a number of local and national dance events, and also competed and won in the Australian Latin Dance Championships 2015.
"Every individual performance is my favourite because they are all unique experiences. I love to put a smile on people’s face and to hear that they enjoy our shows" says Jennie.
Jennie finally ventured to the motherland of Brazil basing herself in Rio de Janerio, the home of Brazilian Samba. "I was truly blessed to have the wonderful opportunity to study samba in Brazil in January 2016 and also got to dance at Salguiero school’s rehearsal with their samba passistas for Carnival. It was the most amazing feeling".
